Tenured Sebastian County major retires after twenty-seven years

Nickson first black investigator for Sebastian County Sheriff's Office.

FORT SMITH (KFSM) -- After 27 years, Major Kevin Nickson of the Sebastian County Sheriff's Office is retiring.

His office is nearly empty.

"It's very weird seeing it. I've been here a long time," Nickson recalled.

Captain Philip Pevehouse said Nickson was the first black investigator for the Sebastian County Sheriff's Office. Pevehouse said Nickson has had an outstanding career and those in their department are proud of him. Read more.
